The track sounds great in your room, then falls apart everywhere else. The low end turns to mush in the car. The master comes out quieter than every reference you love. I spent years on the other side of that problem as a mastering engineer, and most of the tracks that reached my desk had the same fixable issues hiding in them. The music was good. The decisions just needed better information.
That gap is why Mastering The Mix exists. In 2016 I teamed up with a developer called Nash, and we set out to build the tools we wished we had in our own sessions. Tools that show you what is really happening in your mix and point you toward the same calls a seasoned engineer would make. We've created eleven plugins and a free ear-training app, and producers around the world reach for them every day.
I've never stopped mastering while building them. Over 1,000 five-star reviews on SoundBetter, thousands of tracks for artists at every level. I have mastered records for Calvin Harris, Tiesto and Niall Horan, CamelPhat... I also co-created the FASTER MASTER plugin with David Guetta and Nicky Romero.
Better music comes from better decisions, and good tools should teach you while you use them. Mastering is not some dark art reserved for people with expensive rooms. Your music already has the idea in it. My job is to help you finish it.
